AR Murugadoss has confirmed that his forthcoming movie featuring Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has been titled "Akira". He has recently started shooting for the movie.
A year after the release of his last Bollywood venture "Holiday", AR Murugadoss has teamed up with leading production house Fox Star Studios, which is producing his next Hindi film "Akira".
The movie also features Sonakshi's father and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in important roles.
On Wednesday morning, 18 March, AR Murugadoss took to his Twitter account to inform his followers. He also revealed the meaning of the title. The director tweeted: "The title of my film with @sonakshisinha is #AKIRA which means "graceful strength" in Sanskrit."
"Akira" is touted to be an emotional thriller that has strong social message. It focuses on a burning issue – safety of women. Sonakshi Sinha will be playing the title role in the movie. She is playing an intense character of a misunderstood girl, who is forced to fight back when she pushed to a corner. The film will see the actress performing some 'lethal' action for the first time in her career.
On March 15, Sonakshi Sinha started shooting for "Akira". The actress tweeted it to her followers: "My first day of shoot today for @ARMurugadoss sirs film! Cant wait to be in front of the camera!! Super charged up... Wish me luck "
"Akira" happens to be the first female-centric film for Sonakshi Sinha, who is all excited to shoot for the movie. This morning, she posted a photo featuring her on the sets of the film and wrote: "Say hello to #AKIRA. My new name and new film. @ARMurugadoss @foxstarhindi"
