Italian two- and three-wheeler manufacturer Piaggio commenced the deliveries of Aprilia SR 150 scooter India on Tuesday. The company launched SR 150 sports scooter last month for an introductory price of Rs. 65,000.
SR 150 is the first Aprilia product manufactured at Piaggio's India plant in Baramati, Maharashtra. The scooter will be delivered in Pune, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kerala and Chennai initially and will move to other parts of the country in the coming days.
"The commencement of deliveries of the Aprilia SR 150 is a milestone moment for all of us at Piaggio India. This is the first bike from the Aprilia stable that has been designed for the India market and is being manufactured locally. It has managed to create a new category of crossover bikes in India and is receiving a favourable response from the youth of India," said Stefano Pelle, Managing Director and CEO of Piaggio Vehicles, in a statement.
The SR 150 is a sportier avatar of a scooter with beak-styled front apron. The twin headlamp has been placed at the front apron, while the turn indicators are positioned at the handle bar. It gets an aggressive side and rear profile with sharp body panels. The instrument cluster is simple in layout with a twin pod analog unit for speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer.
The SR 150 is powered by a 154.4cc 3-valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that can churn out 11.39bhp of power and 11.5Nm of torque mated to a CVT unit. It also comes with a 7- litre capacity fuel tank.
