Piaggio Group launched Aprilia SR 150 scooter, the first locally manufactured product of the Italian manufacturer in India on Monday. The sports scooter has been priced very competitively at Rs 65,000, ex-showroom. However, the introductory price will not continue for long and the company is reportedly planning to increase price post-Diwali.
Stefano Pelle, MD, Piaggio India told BikeWale that the company clearly says that this is just an introductory pricing, and that it will stay the same till Diwali. The vehicle has received positive response from the market according to Pelle. He mentioned that the booking numbers are in thousands.
Aprilia SR 150 is manufactured at Piaggio's India plant in Baramati, Maharashtra. The heart of the SR150 154.4cc 3-valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that can churn out 11.39bhp of power and 11.5Nm of torque mated to a CVT unit. It also comes with a 7- litre capacity fuel tank.
The SR 150 is a sportier avatar of a scooter with beak-styled front apron. The twin headlamp has been placed at the front apron, while the turn indicators are positioned at the handle bar. It gets an aggressive side and rear profile with sharp body panels. The instrument cluster is simple in layout with a twin pod analog unit for speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer.
Bookings for the scooter are being accepted now at Vespa as well as Motoplex dealerships in Pune, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad. Pre-booking option for Aprilia SR 150 is also available through PayTm.com. The company has started deliveries of the scooter from Monday.
