Italian auto-maker Piaggio Aprilia forayed into the scooter segment in India on Aug. 22 with its premium scooter the SR 150. The Aprilia SR 150 is offered with an introductory price tag of Rs. 65,000.
The Aprilia SR 150, the first Aprilia model to be manufactured in the country, made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2016. Auto-lovers in the country have been waiting to swing their legs on this sporty scooter since then. The Aprilia SR 150 will be manufactured at Piaggio's India plant in Baramati, Maharashtra. The company has already started dispatching the models to its dealerships across India and the delivery of the Aprilia SR 150 is expected to begin immediately after the launch. The new scooter will be sold through Vespa dealerships in India.
Coming to the engine specifications of the SR 150, at the heart of the Aprilia SR 150 is a 154.4cc 3-valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that can churn out 11.39bhp of power and 11.5Nm of torque mated to a CVT unit. The Aprilia SR 150 gets 7- litre capacity fuel tank.
As far as the styling of the SR 150 is concerned, the scooter gets beak-styled front apron twin headlamp and handle bar-mounted turn indicator. It features an instrument cluster with a twin-pod analog unit for speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer and employs telescopic front forks and a monoshock unit at the rear.
Riding on 14-inch alloy wheels wrapped around 120/70 spec wheels, the ApriliaSR 150 gets stopping power from 220mm disc at front and 140mm drum brakes at rear.The scooter is offered in two colours -- black and white.
The bookings for the SR 150 are open in the country online as well as through Vespa bricks and mortar stores. The Aprilia SR 150 is available for booking on Paytm with full cash-back offers on the booking amount. The scooter can be booked for a down-payment of Rs. 2,000.
