April Releases: 'Uthama Villian', 'Nanbenda', 'Kanchana 2', 'OK Kanmani', 'Rudramadevi' Line Up

With the summer vacations fast approaching, Tamil industry is abuzz with the rumours regarding the release dates of many upcoming films. Producers and actors are also striving hard to make sure that they get the best slots for their movie release.

As per the latest rumours five major movies have announced their releases in the summer vacation in April. Kamal Haasan's "Uthama Villain", Udayanidhi Stalin's "Nanbenda", Lawrence's "Kanchana 2", Mani Ratnam's "OK Kanmani" and "Anushka Shetty's "Rudramadevi" has confirmed their release in April.

Industry is now waiting to see how April will fare in terms of box office collections and it is a tight fight between big names.

"Uthama Villain"

Kamal Haasan's much awaited "Uthama Villain" has confirmed its release for 2 April. The much-awaited movie is directed by actor and filmmaker Ramesh Arvind and 'Ulaganayagan' has done the story, screenplay and dialogues.

The film's cast include Urvashi, Andreah Jeremiah, K Viswanath, Pooja Kumar, Nasser, Jayaram, MS Bhaskar and Parvathi Menon. The film also has legendary filmmaker K Balachander in a special appearance.

"Nanbenda"

Udayanadhi Stalin is all set to lock horns with the big Kamala Haasan movie on 2 April. Directed by Jagadesh, the movie is touted as a romantic-comedy entertainer and will also see Uday – Santhanam team at the best of their wits along with Nayanthara.

"Nannbenda" star cast includes "Thulluvatho Ilamai" fame Sherin, Pooja Ramachandran, Suzane George, Karunakaran, Manobala, Sriranjini, Rajendram, Pattimandram Raja, Kdhal Dhandapani and Tamannaah in a cameo role.

The music of "Nannbenda" is composed by Harris Jayaraj and the songs have already received positive reviews. The cinematography is done by Balasubramaniem and the editing is done by Vivek Harshan.

The film is being produced by Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies.

"Kanchana 2"

"Kanachan2" is one of the most-awaited comedy horror movie in recent times. The movie is allotted a safe date of 10 April. The movie which was earlier mentioned as "Muni 3 Ganga", is written as well as directed by Lawrence and is the third part of the "Muni series".

The movie also has star cast of Taapse Pannu, Kovai Sarala, Devadarshini, Pooja Ramachandran and Jangiri Madhumitha.

The music of the movie is done by debutant Leon James, cinematography is done by Rajavel Olhiveeran.

"Ok Kanamani"

"Ok Kanamani' Oh Kadhal Kanamani" is one of the most-awaited romantic movies from Mani Rathnam. The movie stars Malayalam star Mammootty's son Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen in the lead and is rumoured to be released on 14 April.

"OK Kanmani" is reportedly a low-budget movie and is said to be a romantic entertainer along the lines of Ratnam's hit film "Alaipayuthey" that featured Madhavan and Shalini.

The cinematography of the movie will be done by PC Sreeram. AR Rahman has worked on the music of this film and has also confirmed that his son Ameen will croon a song. The lyrics are written by Vairamuthu.

"Rudramadevi"

"Rudramadevi" is probably the biggest ever Indian movie ever made till date and the film is touted as the first Indian 3D historic movie. Based on the life of the 13th century queen of Kakatiya dynasty, "Rudramadevi", the bilingual movie is made with a budget of ₹50 crore.

"Rudramadevi" has scheduled his release of 24 April and Anushka Shetty will portray the titular role. Directed by Gunasekhar, "Rudramadevi' also has stare cast of Allu Arjun, Krishnam Raju, Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Adithya Menon, Nithya Menon, Baba Sehgal and Catherine Tresa .
