All eyes are on Apple's upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as the iPhone 7 as its release date is drawing close. The Cupertino giant may be trying to maintain utmost secrecy, but several details from its possible release date to specifications have been leaked over the last few weeks.
Apple is expected to release two devices – the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus – next month as its predecessor, the iPhone 6s, will complete a year cycle in the market by this time. Interestingly, leakster Evan Blass aka @evleaks has claimed in a Twitter post that the device will be announced on Sept. 12 but it is not confirmed yet.
The iPhone 7 is expected to have several feature upgrades over its predecessor, and here is how it will stack up against it based on information leaked so far:
Display: The iPhone 7 is expected to sport a 4.7-inch screen, and the iPhone 7 Plus a 5.5-inch screen like its predecessors, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Processor and operating system: The iPhone 6s is powered by an A9 chip and runs iOS 9 software, but the iPhone 7 is expected to have an A10 chip, and an iOS 10 operating system.
Storage and camera: The iPhone 7 is expected to come packed with a 3GB RAM and mounts a dual camera with OIS feature, while the iPhone 6s has a 16/64/128 GB internal memory, a 2GB RAM, a 12MP main camera with f/2.2 aperture, 29mm lens, phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, 1/3" sensor size and 1.22 µm pixel size, and a 5MP front-snapper with f/2.2 aperture and 31mm lens.
According to reports, the iPhone 7 will replace the 3.5mm headphone jack with a lightning jack and feature a capacitive touch button. A report by MobiPicker has claimed that the iPhone 7 will come with a price tag of 5258 Yuan (around $802) for the 32GB, 6088 Yuan (around $924) for the 64GB, and 7088 Yuan (around $1075) for the 256GB, compared to 5,288 Yuan for the 16GB model of iPhone 6s. It went on to say that the 32GB iPhone 7 Plus will be priced at 6088 Yuan (around $924), 6888 Yuan (around $1045) for the 128GB, and 7888 Yuan (around $1197) for 256GB, as against 7,788 Yuan for the 128GB model of the iPhone 6s Plus.
