For the first time ever, Apple is offering an attractive back-to-school promotion offer on purchase of new Macs. The Cupertino-based tech giant announced Thursday that students, eligible faculty members and parents of students will receive a pair of Beats Solo2 On-Ear headphones worth $200 free with every new Mac.
The promotion is also extended to Beats Solo2 Wireless headphones that can be grabbed for just $100 instead of $300 if bundled with a new Mac purchase.
According to Apple, the back-to-school promo is a limited period offer and will be valid from 23 July through 18 September across Apple retail and authorised stores in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. The educational deal will also hit Apple's online stores in the US starting 6 August. Customers can call 1-800-MY-APPLE for more information.
Customers can purchase any Mac product including, iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Pro, in order to get the free Beats headphones. You can also choose from black, white, red, blue, gray and pink headphones. Mac mini and refurbished PCs are not part of the deal.
By bringing the new educational deal, Apple is trying to grab customers' attention, which it had lost years due to its dreary App Store gift card deals. Apple had a good reception when it was offering free iPods with new Mac purchases but lost its charm when product bundling was held off. Free Beats headphones with Mac purchases are likely to turn heads towards Apple's new promotion.
Apple is expected to run its back-to-school promotion in other countries but there is no official word on it yet, Mashable reports.
