Apple has been hosting the annual fall event to unveil iPhones in September for several years. As we get closer to the month, more reports are coming in that the 2018-series will come in three variants. Now, Bloomberg has claimed that it is indeed true and has shed more light on key features of the upcoming iPhones.
If sources are to be believed, Apple will now be releasing two OLED-based models and a low-cost iPhone with the LCD screen. Since the iPhone 3G and the later models, every alternate year, Apple launches S series by keeping the previous iterations design but making the incremental upgrade in terms of processor and camera.
This year, all the upcoming three devices will borrow the 2017-series iPhone X design language with a big notch on top of the display. However, it will differ in terms of the screen sizes and building material.
The high-end models will be coming in 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch model with high-grade stainless steel. On the other hand, the third model with 6.1-inch LCD screen will have Aluminium-based shell and frame, which will help Apple keep the price down and yet offer a premium feel to the phone. In a bid to attract more consumers, the company also intends to launch the third model in multiple vivid colours similar to the iPhone 5C series.
The top-range iPhones are said to be produced by Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd aka Foxconn, while LCD-based iPhone will be assembled partly by Pegatron Corp and rest will be made by Hon Hai, Bloomberg reported.
Rumour has it that Apple now plans to call the new iPhones as-- the iPhone Xs Plus (6.5-inch), the iPhone Xs (5.8-inch) and the iPhone 9 (6.1-inch)— with several upgrades over the 2017-series models.
All the 2018-series iPhones are coming with new generation 7nm-class Apple A12 processor and improved True Depth front-camera with FaceID capability. They will also be coming with a good blend of metal and glass on top. Inside, it will be incorporated with improved wireless charging coil for faster charging (up to 30 percent quicker) and also last longer than any previous iPhones before.
Besides the new iPhones, Apple plans to announce a new line of Apple iPad Pro with faster and long-lasting battery. The tech giants are also planning the Apple Watch series 4 with a bigger display and cell capacity.
The new iPhones are expected to break covers on September 12 and will up for pre-order on September 14. It will hit the stores in the following week on September 21. The company will also be releasing the iOS 12 software for iPhone 6 and the later mobile versions from September 18 onwards.
