A section of the media has reported that Apple is planning to launch its latest smartphone iPhone 5 in India this month but an official from Apple India rubbished the reports, saying that they are just rumours.
Multiple sources have confirmed to us that Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 5 in India on the last Friday of this month, which happens to be October 26. As we had exclusively reported earlier, Apple will be distributing the iPhone 5 in India on its own rather than relying on its carrier partners, reported BGR India.
However, an official from Apple India told IBtimes that the Cupertino giant has no plan to launch iPhone 5 in India anytime soon.
"We have no announcements at the moment on a launch (iPhone 5) or price in India. All reports currently (doing the rounds) are purely media speculation," PR Manager, Apple India told IBTimes.
The new iPhone hit the stores in several countries on September 21 after its launch on Sept 12. It comes in either white and silver or black and slate, and priced in the US at $199 (US) for the 16GB model and $299 (US) for the 32GB model and $399 (US) for the 64GB model. Apple has not announced iPhone 5 pricing in India but Pricedeckho.com reported that it will be priced Rs. 62,990 approximately without mentioning the variant.
The new iPhone comes with iOS 6 with over 200 new features, a 4-inch Retina display, an Apple-designed A6 chip for blazing fast performance, ultrafast wireless technology and an improved battery life.
