Switching from your old Android smartphone to a new iPhone? One of the biggest concerns is transferring your data, including photos, contacts, videos, music, mail accounts, calendars and even web bookmarks, from your old phone to iPhone. Due to Apple's closed ecosystem, users have often found it a difficult process. However, since the tech giant has been opening up in new ways of late, the lengthy process of transferring data is now as simple as downloading an app. Thanks to Apple's new "Move to iOS" app, Android users can download the official app from Google Play Store in order to take care of the switch.
The new app was announced alongside iOS 9, which has been officially rolled out to users. It offers a seamless way to transfer the essentials from your old Android phone to your new iPhone without using wires and a PC.
"When you choose to transfer your data, your new iPhone or iPad will create a private Wi-Fi network and find your Android device running "Move to iOS". After you enter a security code, it will begin transferring your content and put it in the right places," the app's description reads.
The app securely transfers contacts, message history, camera photos and videos, web bookmarks, email accounts and calendars along with adding all paid apps to iTunes Wish List on your new iPhone. After the transfer is complete, iOS will also help setup your default mail account.
"Move to iOS" supports Android devices running version 4.0 and later. The app is available as a free download on Play Store.
