It's that time of the year when deals and discounts come knocking at your doors. In a surprising move, Apple is trying to win over shoppers by dropping prices of its latest flagships, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, just two months after their official launch in India. The new price tags will make the latest iPhones a considerable option as the launch price of iPhone 6s series in India was just exorbitant.
Apple launched the iPhone 6s series in India starting at Rs. 62,000 and up to Rs. 92,000. These prices were nearly Rs. 9,000 more than the launch price of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in India. Not just that, the new iPhones were up to Rs. 16,000 costlier than those available in the US and other markets. Due to the high price tags, Indian shoppers were reluctant to purchase the new iPhones, keeping high demand for older-generation iPhones.
The high prices for the new iPhones backfired. To overcome the lack of demand, Apple is adjusting the costs of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in India in time for holidays. The year-end holidays are crucial for Apple as the October-to-December quarter is said to be the strongest period for sales.
According to Economic Times, four major retailers revealed that the prices of iPhone 6s 16GB variant has fallen 11-16% and sells for between Rs. 52,000 and Rs. 55,000. Similarly, the price cut is universal and affects all variants, including 64GB and 128GB, with an average of about 15% .
The latest price cut on the iPhone 6s series comes shortly after a massive price drop on iPhone 5S in India. The older iPhone model sells for almost half the price than that of three months ago. Online retailers such as Flipkart and Amazon are selling the iPhone 5s for as low as Rs. 21,945, while the official Indian pricing is now Rs. 24,999.
