Earlier this month, speculations were rife that Apple might release the plastic iPhone 5C 8GB model in India soon. Now a report has surfaced online, almost confirming that the launch of the new iPhone 5C variant is likely to happen as early as this weekend.
Technology blog, BGR India has gotten hold of the shipment data (courtesy, Zauba.com) of iPhone 5C 8GB models. The archives have confirmed that the device had already started arriving in India (Bangalore) from China last week, and in all probability will hit shelves either by this weekend or next week.
As of now, Apple iPhone 5C- 16GB and 32GB models are retailing for (MRP) ₹41,900 and ₹53,500 respectively in India. However, owing to lack-luster response in the market, the company recently brought in a buy-back scheme for iPhone 5C 16GB variant offering ₹7,500 discount in exchange of old smartphones.
Similarly, many are expecting the American company to use same promotional tactics for the new 8GB model to get traction in a price-sensitive Indian market.
Old Apple devices - iPhone 4S (2011 model) and iPhone 4 (2014 model) are selling under ₹25,000 and ₹18,500 respectively in few select online retail shops in India.
