Apple's newly-launched iPad mini is now available for purchase in India, even before the country gets to see an official launch.
Online retailer Tradus has listed the scaled-down version of the popular-selling iPad on its website with a price starting from ₹26,990.
iPad mini made its way to 34 countries, excluding India, on Friday. Tradus mentioned the dispatch time of the device as 14 to 28 working days. That some consumers in India will receive the tablet ahead of its scheduled launch is questionable.
The device is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options priced at ₹26990, ₹34990 and ₹43490, respectively. All three versions are available in Black and Slate colours.
The 7.9-inch tablet received a lukewarm response when it was first revealed on Oct 23. The company's iPhone 5 came to India the very same day when iPad mini made its sales debut. iPad mini came was considered a strong contender to Google's Nexus, Amazon's Kindle fire and software Microsoft's Surface tablet.
iPad Mini comes with a screen resolution of 1,024-by-768 pixel with 163-pixels-per-inch density. It claims a battery life of 10 hours and packs one FaceTime HD and iSight camera. The device is powered by a dual-core A5 processor. The tablet was well received particularly for its slim framework and for offering most of the features found in the larger iPad. At the same time, fans were disappointed with Apple not offering a full HD screen in iPad mini.
