For the last few months, Internet was abuzz with the much-anticipated Apple's new iPhone 6 series smartphones and now that they have been launched, the attention has shifted to the second generation iPad Air, which is speculated to debut in October third week.
Technology blog The Michael Report have got hold of alleged Apple iPad Air's pictures and illustrations revealing the specifications of the device.
Apple has put iPad Air 2 (aka iPad 6) under knife to carve out more flesh to make it thinner and market it as slimmest tablet in the industry, according to report. Thanks to use of new display technology, iPad Air 2 is said to be 0.5mm slimmer than its predecessor.
The company has also made some minor changes in the design of speaker grill; instead of two rows, it has been re-engineered with bigger single row, similar to the one we see in the current iPhone 6 series smartphones. The mute/vibration button has also been removed and the volume rockers size have been reduced to facilitate the thinner body profile.
In terms of internal hardware, Apple iPad Air 2 is expected to house 64-bit architecture based CPU, 2GB RAM, Touch-ID fingerprint sensor, 8.0-megapixel rear-side camera, FaceTime HD front-camera and is said to come in three storage variants - 16GB, 32GB and 128GB models with colour options - gold, silver grey and black.
The website, despite having photos of the alleged iPad Air 2 in its possession, it has refrained to post the pictures to protect the identity of the sources inside Apple Inc.
Though the leaked report has gone viral on the Internet, the American company, like previous times has chosen to remain silent over the rumours.
Until the company comes out and clear air over the rumours, this report will remain as pure speculations only.
If sources of Recode are to be believed, Apple is slated to host an event on 16 October at Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino to launch iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 and iMac with new Yosemite X OS.
It has to be noted that Recode has a good track record of predicting Apple Inc events. The website has the credit of correctly foretelling iPhone 6 launch on 9 September this year.
