American technology major Apple has released the third major iOS update to official developers.
The release of iOS 9.3 has taken everybody by surprise as it was never expected. Earlier this month, on 4 January to be precise, Apple had rolled out 9.2.1 beta to developers and as expected after a couple or more beta releases, the final iOS v9.2.1 was supposed to be pushed to the public.
Nevertheless, people aren't complaining about iOS 9.3 as it brings new features such night-shift feature, smart education upgrades, new options in CarPlay, Health app, News app and security updates.
Brief description of Apple iOS 3 Beta:
Night Shift: With this feature enabled in the device, it will intuitively use the iOS device's clock and geo-location to determine when it's sunset in your location. Then it automatically shifts the colours in the display to the warmer end of the spectrum, making it easier on users' eyes. In the morning, it returns the display to its regular settings.
News App: The articles in "For You" section are now better tailored to users' particular interests. And to help user discover new Favourites, "For You" suggests trending topics and Editors' Picks. When a story contains video, users can play it right from your feed. The new update also brings landscape mode.
Notes App: With iOS 9.3 update, users will be able to lock notes with password/Touch ID. Apple device owners can also sort notes by date created, date modified, or alphabetically.
Smart Education: Apple in its bid to push iPads as an education companion to the student community has brought in few tailored made features such as:
- New class room app: Using this, teachers can guide students through a lesson, see their progress, and keep them on track.
- Apple School Manager: Admins will now have one portal where they can do everything from creating Apple IDs to purchasing apps to prepare devices for MDM.
- Manage Apple IDs: A new kind of ID for education, Managed Apple IDs are created and assigned by the school.
- Sharing: Students will be able to log in any iPad in any classroom and make it their own. [For more details, smart education feature, click HERE]
Health: After updating to iOS 9.3, users can install third-party apps to track their health and wellness. Categories such as Weight, Workouts, and Sleep will now have a new slider menu that users can easily add to their Health dashboard.
The Health app also now displays users' move, exercise, and stand data, as well as the goals from Apple Watch. With this, users can see all the health metrics in one place and easily share the data with third‑party apps. [For more information on Apple iOS 3 features, click HERE]
When will iOS 9.3 update be made available to public:
Going by the previous release pattern, Apple is expected to roll-out two, if not three, beta (experimental) updates to developers and after making sure that it doesn't have any bugs in it, the company is most likely to deploy the public version by this month end or early February.
