It has been almost a month since Apple unveiled its iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Now, the American technology giant is reportedly prepping to release the new smartphones in India this month.
Technology blog BGR claims that Apple is likely to release iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C on 25 October in India. The launch details of the new iPhones reportedly cropped up recently during a business meeting among top Indian retail chain representatives and Apple executives. The particulars regarding the price of new Apple handsets are still under wraps.
The meeting was reportedly chaired by Apple India's country head Maneesh Dhir and telecom business head Sanjay Kaul. It was attended by big multi-brand retail chains such as The Mobile Store, Croma, UniverCell Telecom, Reliance Retail, Next Retail, Planet M Retail, Spice HotSpot and Future Group.
The main idea behind the gathering was to set up a roadmap to increase the footprint of Apple products (iPods, iPhones, iPads) in Tier-2 cities in India. Apple is planning to introduce 100 exclusive stand alone stores via a franchisee model this fiscal year. However it has not set any deadline as such, reported The Economic Times.
Apple's new smartphones, especially the premium model iPhone 5S, has received a huge response from Apple fans in developed markets. It has also crept into the Indian grey markets and is reportedly selling as high as ₹1,00,000 a piece.
