The Union government will certainly accord the special category status to Andhra Pradesh, said the Union Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday, 7 May.
Naidu was speaking in Vijayawada at a congratulatory meeting organised for him by Bharatiaya Janata Party (BJP) after he became the central minister. Naidu said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government at the Centre will implement all the assurances given during the last elections.
Naidu stated that he has met every union minister and requested them to fulfill all the assurances made to the people during elections. He made it clear that the Centre is committed to establish educational institutions like IIT and medical education institutes and health organisations in AP. The government is to implement all special packages promised to Seemandhra and Northern region of AP, he added.
People of Andhra Pradesh have voted Nara Chandrababu Naidu to power in the last elections considering his vast experience in politics and State administration, the Union Minister said. Once Chandrababu Naidu takes charge as the Chief Minister of the state, he should start implementing all promises made to the people, the Union Minister added.
The senior BJP leader called upon party workers to build the party in AP in the place of Congress, which has been wiped out in the state in the last April-May elections. He told the party workers to strive for solving the problems being faced by people. The Union government will cooperate for development of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, he added.
Impetus for Industrial Development: Nirmala Sitaraman
Union Commerce Minister, Nirmala Sitaraman who visited Hyderabad on Saturday, 7 May, stated that the Union government would give impetus for industrial development both in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states. Speaking to the media at the city's Shamshabad airport, she said the Centre is equally commited for the progress of the two states.
She stressed on the skill development of employees and unemployed youth. The newly created Telangana state will bring more scope for employment opportunities for unemployed youth, she added.
Sitaraman received a warm welcome by BJP workers in Hyderabad. At the party office in the city, she said that in the new state of Telangana, food processing industries will be promoted.
The minister reiterated that the Union government would strive to bring back the black money stashed by Indian individuals in foreign banks to spend it on welfare programmes of the people.
Sitaraman will attend swearing-in ceremony of Nara Chandrababu Naidu as Andhra Pradesh Chief Mininster at Nagarjuna Nagar, Guntur, on Sunday.
