Sony has revealed AOSP Android 6.0 Marshmallow configuration and binary files for several devices from Xperia series like Xperia Z5, Xperia Z3, Xperia M5 and Xperia C5 Ultra.
The company's Open Device program will allow developers to run AOSP Android 6.0 Marshmallow on its devices, including the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact.
"For all you open source fans, we've just added an AOSP Marshmallow (Android 6.0) configuration and binaries available for download, as part of Sony's Open Device program," wrote Sony Mobile Developer.
"With these resources, you'll be able to build AOSP Marshmallow for all Qualcomm based 2014+ Sony Xperia devices. AOSP for Xperia Z5 is included in the newest package, so that early adopters in the open source community can start experimenting now," it added.
Links to all Sony's device configurations is available on AOSP List of Devices and Resources page.
It is still not known when Sony will release Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update to its devices but it should be rolled out in early 2016 if history is anything to go by.
