Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who was recently in the news for slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is ready to make his debut in Tamil films. He will be entering Kollywood through Nayanthara's upcoming Tamil movie Imaikkaa Nodigal, which is written and directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu of Demonte Colony fame.
Anurag Kashyap will be doing the role of a powerful villain named Rudra in Imaikkaa Nodigal. His performance in AR Murugadoss-directorial, Akira, impressed the director, who felt that without Kashyap, Imaikkaa Nodigal would not be complete.
"I saw Anurag's rare combination of subtlety, intensity and unpredictability which is what I needed. Rudra holds the story together. If I couldn't cast Anurag, I felt my film wouldn't be complete. The characteristics Anurag displayed were in sync with what I had written. He evokes such fear with his subtle and sheer villainy, making him the perfect choice," Ajay told iFlickz.
Ajay Gnanamuthu is a former associate of AR Murugadoss, who arranged the meeting between the young director and Anurag Kashyap. Interestingly, Kashyap gave a nod to act in the film even before Gnanamuthu completed the story narration.
Imaikkaa Nodigal is a romantic thriller in which Atharvaa and Nayanthara are playing the leads. Raashi Khanna and many others are in the cast. Hiphop Tamizha is scoring the music, RD Rajasekhar is handling the camera and Bhuvan Srinivasan is the editor of the flick.
The shooting of the Tamil film kick-started in Chennai in the first week of October.
