Funnyman Kapil Sharma of "Comedy Nights With Kapil" fame, who has his loyalists in splits all the time, is actually a moody person. As a guest on "The Anupam Kher Show - Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai", the master comedian shared a handful of secrets and the sorrows behind his smile.
Sharma comes from a 'middle class' family, and his father, Shri Jeetendra Kumar, was the Punjab Police head constable. Unfortunately, his father couldn't live long to watch him climb the ladder of success. Sharma was in his teens when his father was diagnosed with last-stage cancer. With financial constraints looming large on the family, only prayers were their last resort.
While struggling for years, Sharma always had in mind that he has to marry off his sister. The night he won a laughter championship, he called up his sister to inform that she would have a 'lavish' wedding.
Sensitive and emotional, the stand-up comedian said he never expects much from his life and is content with what he has.
On the cusp of success, Sharma gives its credit to his mother, Janak Rani. He believes that there isn't a more encouraging soul in the world other than her. The unmatched sense of humour, he said, had been passed on to him from her.
Not taking success for granted, Sharma makes sure he never disappoints his fans. He strongly acknowledges the fact that his success is because of his many loyalists. He now realises, making people laugh is more of a 'responsibility', and the day he becomes overconfident he will be finished.
Regarding the funnyman's love life, he reportedly confessed being in a relationship. But, his lady love went on to marry a Gujarati store owner in London. In the show, however, he didn't disclose any such details and said he was very happy being single.
Sharma, came across as a 'regular' guy who knows his roots well and is grounded. He is also a true friend, and mostly travels with his school friends.
