In yet another shocking incident of rape in a Bangalore school -- the second case in a fortnight -- a six-year-old girl was raped by her teacher twice in a private school this week.
The girl, a Class 1 student, was raped on Tuesday and Wednesday by her 37-year-old Hindi teacher, as reported by The Times of India.
The teacher reportedly raped the girl in the boys' toilet. The incident came to light when the girl complained of pain in her private parts, and after a test by a gynecologist, it was confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.
The child's father is a cab driver and her mother works as a housekeeping employee at a private firm, as per the TOI report.
The parents lodged a complaint at the Jeevan Bima Nagar police station aided by the Child Welfare Committee, and the girl recognized her rapist by name, following which the teacher was arrested. The police have booked a case under Section 376 of IPC and Sections 5 and 16 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
"The girl told her mother she was abused on 28 and 29 October. We are questioning the Hindi teacher based on initial investigation," Additional commissioner of police (law & order) Alok Kumar told TOI.
This is the fourth such deplorable incident in a Bangalore school in the last few months, raising serious concerns of safety of children within the school premises.
In July, the shocking case of gangrape of a six-year-old girl in an upscale school in the city came to light and led to national outrage.
Over the last two months, another sickening case emerged of a teacher having abused at least seven students over more than 40 days. This month, a three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused inside her school.
