Delta Airlines flight diverts as passenger fight over reclined seat.Reuters

A fight between passengers over reclined seat in Delta Airlines flight, which was travelling from LaGuardia to Palm Beach International Airport, caused diversion of the plane to Jacksonville on Monday.

According to Delta Airlines, the flight was diverted "due to safety reasons in regard to a passenger issue", reports WPTV.

The argument took place between two female passengers over reclining seat, which heated up after a while. According to an airport authority report, the passenger, who created the issue, was identified as Amy Caryn Fine, 32, of Boca Raton.

Fine, who was laying her head on the tray table, got aggressive when a passenger in front reclined the seat. It led to a big fight and she started screaming and shouting to land the flight on the next stop.

"This woman who was sitting next to me knitting actually tried reclining her seat back and the woman behind her started screaming and swearing and the flight attendant came over and that just exacerbated what was going on, and then she demanded that the flight land," Aaron Klipin, a passenger sitting next to the one who reclined the seat, told WPTV.

When the flight attendant came to calm things down, Fine demanded to land the plane. She stated that she didn't care about the consequences, said Klipin, adding, " The flight attendants went and spoke with the captain, while somebody was blocking her path to the cabin. Then, a few minutes later, an announcement came on that we were diverting to Jacksonville."

After landing, Fine was escorted off the flight but no criminal charges were filed against her.

This is the third time over last ten days that a flight got diverted due to passengers' tiff. Earlier an American Airlines flight and a United Airlines flight had to be diverted because of reclining seat issues.
