Months after a massive child abuse scandal in Pakistan's Punjab province shocked the country last August, a similar case, where men kidnapped and raped children, and also filmed the act, has emerged in the country's Swat region. The police have arrested the leader of the gang involved in making child pornography, Dawn reported on Wednesday.
The gang reportedly kidnapped several children in Swat and forced them into sexual intercourse while filming them, according to Dawn. Local journalists in the Swat region reportedly got hold of hundreds of photos and videos showing sexual abuse of boys, and then handed the material to the Swat district police officer. The police reportedly arrested the gang leader even as he was sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy at his home, from where they also recovered handcuffs and chains.
Last August, a massive child abuse scandal came to light in the Punjab province, involving hundreds of children and over 400 child pornography videos. Two people involved in the crime were given life sentences last month, after Pakistan passed a law this year that criminalised child sexual abuse and pornography in the country for the first time, according to AFP.
Child sexual abuse cases were also reported in other parts of the country by local media on Wednesday. Three boys were raped in Peshawar and Shabqadar in the last few days, according to the Express Tribune.
A few days ago, the rape and murder of a 11-year-old Pakistani Hindu boy had led to protests in Paksitan's Sindh province.
