Ann Augustine Back with Promising Role in Lal Jose's 'Neena'

Actress Ann Augustine, who had taken a break from acting after her marriage to cinematographer Jomon T John is now set for her comeback.

The actress will be seen next in Lal Jose's much-talked-about movie "Neena", in which she portrays the role of Vijay Babu's wife. 

Vijay will play the role of a family man, who also leads a successful corporate life and the movie will explore the intricacies and complexities of urban relationships. Their life takes a turn when 22-year-old Neena, a vagabond and an avid traveller enters their life. The makers are still in search of an actress, who will play the title role of Neena.

"When there are two women in a film, there is bound to be a man in their midst, and that man is played by Vijay Babu; it can be called a love triangle of sorts. But more than that, it is a story of high emotional intensity; the characterization is not the usual kind you find in Malayalam films, especially that of Neena," director Lal Jose told The Times of India

The director is quite excited about his title character and is busy finding the perfect lady to play the role.

"Neena works as the creative director of an ad agency. She drinks, smokes and is the kind who rides a motorbike, a tomboy. We are on the look-out for the right actress; it has to be someone with a boy cut et al. I haven't come across such people in real life but I hear there are many such in our cities," added the director.

Meanwhile, Ann has previously worked with Lal Jose for his 2010 movie, "Elsamma Enna Aankutty" and she had won Vanitha Film Awards and Asianet Film Awards for her performance in the movie. Her last Malayalam movie, "Artist" (2013) has fetched her Filmfare Awards South and Kerala State Film Awards for the Best Actress.

"Neena" is written by R Venugopal and the cinematography is handled by Jomon T John. Music of the movie will be composed by debutant Nikhil J Menon and the shooting of the movie is expected to kick-start by February.
