Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande's six-year-long relationship, which was to culminate into marriage sometime this year, reportedly came to an unexpected halt in March. The newest update claims the split was caused by conflicting career choices.
Apparently, Ankita missed out on a film with a "major superstar" courtesy Sushant's tiff with the production house that is funding the project she was to be a part of, a source informed BollywoodLife. Word has it, the film she had auditioned for could be "Sultan," which is being produced by Yash Raj Films and the star she couldn't work with is then obviously Salman Khan.
When team "Sultan" was scouting for a leading lady for their project, one of the actresses approached was Ankita. In October last year, an insider told the entertainment portal that she was at the Yash Raj Films studio (Mumbai) for the same and was working hard for the role, which eventually went to Anushka Sharma.
"Ankita has been working hard to transition for the film. She has got herself a new haircut and she has changed her style too. She has also been working out extensively for the film," the source had further elaborated.
That Sushant would want to cause harm to Ankita's career comes across as surprising, when this narrative is taken into account: a source in the know told Mumbai Mirror that the "M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story" actor was upset that his girlfriend's career had come to a stop. He, apparently, encouraged her to take up projects that would help her stay afloat in the scene.
"It wasn't to earn money, he was capable of supporting both of them in style, but because he knew that her self-worth two years from now would be moulded by what she was doing today," the insider added.
