Google finally ended the suspense about the name of its latest Android OS, but users are still eager to know if and when they can get Android Pie for their smartphones. While Google's Pixel-series and Essential Phone are the only models to get the latest software, it appears Nokia 7 Plus users in India are in for a treat.
Nokia 7 Plus is already confirmed to get Google 9.0 Pie in due time, but the latest report about some users getting the software in India is certainly a welcoming surprise. In fact, Nokia 7 Plus was one of the few handsets eligible for Android Pie beta back in the day, which makes the information somewhat believable.
NokiaPowerUser reported that it received a tip about Nokia 7 Plus already receiving Android Pie in India. Along with the tip was a screenshot of the update waiting to be downloaded on the device. The leaked screenshot shows the final build of Android 9.0 Pie weighing at 1173MB in size.
HMD Global hasn't commented on the matter yet, but it appears the rollout is not widespread. The best way to check if your Nokia 7 Plus has received Android Pie is to go to Settings > About Phone > Software updates. If there's a pending OTA update for Android Pie, you should go for it. It is highly recommended users connect to a strong Wi-Fi network before downloading the 1.1GB file.
On the off chance that your Nokia 7 Plus hasn't received the OTA update yet, it is best to wait, which could be as late as "later this fall" as per Google's timetable for Android One devices. But sooner the better, so let's keep our fingers crossed.
