Motorola smartphone users must keep a close watch on the latest Android updates over-the-air as the company is pushing out Nougat update to most of its phones. After reports of software update for Moto G4, G4 Plus and E3 Power, Motorola is pushing the latest firmware to the next batch, which includes a longer list of devices.
According to TechWorm, Android 7.0 Nougat for Moto Z, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force and Moto Z Force Droid is just around the corner. The report further added that Moto X Play, Moto X Style and Moto X Force will get the latest firmware next month, and continue the update cycle with Moto E and Moto G4 Play early next year.
Sadly, some Moto smartphones will not receive Google's Android Nougat update. Due to an incompatible chipset, the second-gen Moto X will not receive the new firmware.
Motorola is one of the few third-party OEMs to release the latest Android updates to its devices. Just like Android 6.0 Marshmallow last year, the company will push Android Nougat over-the-air to its eligible Moto smartphones in India and around the world.
Depending on the users' geographical location and choice of carrier, there may be some delay, but the rollout is imminent. So far, only the Nexus series, including Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, and Pixel C, Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones run the latest firmware. In terms of third-party devices, LG V20 is the first one to be powered by Android Nougat.
In case you haven't received the OTA notification for Android Nougat, go to Settings > Phone Update > Check update now in order to manually initiate the update process.
Android updates are crucial for smartphones as they not only bring new features, but also improve security and performance of the device. In case of Android Nougat, users will get a series of new features such as Google Assistant, VR interface, multi-window, Java 8 language support, screen zoom, power efficiency, data saver, new emojis, app switch and more.
