As promised, consumer electronics giant LG on Tuesday released the much awaited Android Nougat update to its flagship smartphone G5.
As of now, the company is rolling out the new OS to LG G5 in its home market South Korea and is expected to expand the software deployment process to America, Asia and other markets in the coming weeks.
With the release, LG once again showed its commitment towards releasing softwares in a timely manner. This is the second year in a row that LG has trumped its rival by rolling out the latest update to it devices. In 2015, LG G4 was the first non-nexus phone to receive the Android Marshmallow update.
[Note: LG's recently released V20 is also the non-Pixel/Nexus phone to come with Android Nougat out-of-the-box]
The new Nougat software brings night mode, bundled notification, enhanced security update, improved battery optimisation, multi-window options and numerous other value-added features to enhance user experience.

"At LG, we know our customers want the best, most up-to-date mobile experience," Kim Hyung-jung, senior vice president and head of LG Mobile's research and development, said in a statement.
"Getting software updates to our users faster than the competition is our way of demonstrating that LG is committed to supporting our products and customers to ensure they have a positive ownership experience," Hyung-jung added.

How to install Android Nougat update Over-The-Air (OTA):
If you have received a notification message for this update:
1. Select "Yes, I'm in"
2. After the software is downloaded, select "Install now"
3. After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
4. Your phone is now updated.
If you have not received a notification message for this update, follow the steps below to manually update your phone:
1. Select the Settings icon in the apps menu.
2. Select "About phone"
3. Select "System updates"
4. Select "Yes, I'm in". After the software is downloaded, select "Install now"
5. After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
6. Your phone is now updated.
Since OTA process are carried out in phases, it will take a week or two to reach all the corners of the world, so be a little patient for the update to arrive.
Users can also check for updates manually by going to Settings >> About Phone>> System Updates>> check for new firmware.
