After weeks of soak test, Lenovo's Motorola finally released the much-awaited Android Nougat to the 2015 flagship Moto X Pure in the United States.
"We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto X Pure Edition by Motorola. This update brings Android 7.0 Nougat to your phone along with other improvements," Motorola said in a statement.

Android Nougat comes with multi-window options, night mode, bundled notification, improved security update, enhanced battery optimisation, and several other value-added features to enhance user experience.
How to install Android Nougat OTA (Over-The-Air) update on Moto X Pure:
[Note: Before initiating software installation, Moto X Pure owners are advised to make sure their device's battery is at least 75 percent charged and also use Wi-Fi network connection for downloading, so that you don't face any interruption and avoid getting hefty mobile data bill.]
If you have received a notification message for this update:
- Select "Yes, I'm in".
- After the software is downloaded, select "Install now".
- After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
- Your phone is now updated.
Since the firmware roll-out is carried out in phases, it will take days, if not weeks, to reach all corners of the country. Until then, users can manually check for updates by following the procedure mentioned below:
Go to Settings >> About Phone >> System Updates >> check for the new firmware. If the phone detects OTA update, follow the aforementioned procedure.
When will Moto X Play get Android Nougat?
Now that Moto X Pure has finally started to get Android Nougat in the US, the company is expected to expand the roll-out to the former's international model, Moto X Style, in a few weeks.
Once the update is completed for the 2015 flagship phone, Motorola is expected to shift its focus to the popular mid-range device, Moto X Play. It will initially invite select device owners for soak test, and going by the previous release pattern, it is most likely to kick off around May-end. A week or two later, the company is expected to deploy the software to the public before the end of June.
Motorola's parent company Lenovo has also confirmed the release of Android Nougat to Moto G4 Play in June. With that, Motorola completes its promise of delivering Nougat OS to all the eligible devices before the launch of Android v8.0 O series operating system.
