OnePlus probably has the smallest lineup of smartphones, but it has managed to make a huge impact by selling its phones in large quantities. Right from OnePlus One till OnePlus 3, the company has a total of four smartphones. Since none of the devices are still updated to Google's latest Android Nougat, users are eagerly waiting for the same.
Earlier this month, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau teased a photo of the OnePlus 3 running Android Nougat. The OnePlus team also revealed during a Reddit AMA that it is "actively working" bringing the latest Android software to its current flagship. But users can also expect the new firmware to arrive on OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X devices, according to media reports.
The company did not reveal an exact timeline of the Android Nougat rollout for its devices, but the process is expected to begin as early as December. OnePlus is also reportedly working on a new smartphone called OnePlus 3T, which is said to be running Android 7.0 Nougat at launch in December. This would put both the company's 2016 flagships on the latest firmware Google has released.
OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X are well within the 18 months' timeline to be updated to latest software as per Google and OEMs contracts. But the software rollout to these devices cannot be expected this year. Sadly, OnePlus One users might be stuck on the current version of Android. But users can always get the taste of Nougat on their device via custom ROM installation.
