After Sony, HTC, Motorola and LG, OnePlus has officially announced the Android Marshmallow update roll out schedule to its devices.
"Many of you have been wondering about Android M and when exactly it's coming to your OnePlus device. Although we don't want to promise specific dates yet, we want to share some more detailed answers with you today," said Carl, OnePlus forum administrator.
The company has confirmed that their former software partner Cyanogen will release Android Marshmallow based CM13 in the first quarter of 2016, where as OnePlus community based updated OxygenOS will also be delivered little later.
However, the 2015 flagship model - OnePlus 2 will get OxygenOS (based on Android Marshmallow) by March-end (2016).
As far as OnePlus X is concerned, the company, in its bid to not to give any false hope to fans, has declined to divulge ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) of the update, but promised to deliver as soon as possible.
OnePlus has pushed out kernel sources to the developer community members to develop upgraded OxygenOS for OnePlus X.
Key attribute of the Google's new Android Marshmallow OS is the Doze power saving feature. It is said to extend battery life by at least 30% depending on the device's internal hardware.

Other noteworthy features include native support for fingerprint sensor input, leaner and faster Chrome browser, more intuitive Now on Tap feature, new security feature verified boot system, support for more international dialects, new contextual assistance feature, Google photos and auto back-up from where all apps user data (less than 25MB) will automatically be stored in Google Drive.
