Motorola is known for prompt release of new software to its eligible devices and it hasn't disappointed with Android Nougat update as most of its popular handsets have already received it. But surprisingly, the Moto X Play, Moto G4 Play and Droid Maxx 2 are yet to get the OS.
The Lenovo-own company has announced Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Moto X Play on its official website that. It said that the new OS update "brings important improvements to your phone" but didn't reveal the exact date of its roll out. However, it is a strong hint that that the software seeding is around the corner, perhaps in the next few days.

How about the Moto G4 Play and Droid Maxx 2? There is no word from Motorola on these devices but reports have earlier claimed that the Moto G4 Play would get the firmware in June. As for the Droid Maxx 2, Motorola has said on Lenovo forum that the company doesn't provide firmware release dates and that "You will just receive a notification on your phone once it is available."
It is confirmed that the Moto X Play will receive the Android 7.1.1 Nougat version instead of the Android 7.0. It is likely that the Moto G4 Play and Droid Maxx 2 too will get the latest version of the firmware.
Motorola has rolled out Android Nougat update to the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Droid Force, Moto Z Play, Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen) aka Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Moto G4, and Moto G4 Plus. It brings many enhancements like new multi-tasking features, better notification controls, improved data saver, battery enhancement, video calling and stability.
