After releasing Android Nougat v7.1.1 to Nokia 6 in China, HMD Global has expanded the roll-out programme to more regions in Asia. Nokia 6 owners are advised to clear up their device's storage, as the new update weighs around 1.8 GB.
"Nokia 6 in Hong Kong and Taiwan received Android 7.1.1 update and also the May security update today. We are delivering our promise to provide monthly security updates and also regular systems updates. China version was updated to 7.1.1 already in April and also received the May security update early this week," says the official statement of HMD Global Oy (via Nokia Power User).

Here's how to update OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware on your phone update:
1. Select "Yes, I'm in."
2. After the software is downloaded, select "Install now."
3. After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
4. Your phone is now updated.
Since the OTA roll-out process is being carried out in phases, it will take several weeks to reach all the regions.
Until then, device owners can check for updates manually by going to Settings >> About Phone >> System Updates >> check for the new firmware.
What's coming in Android 7.1.1 Nougat update?
Apart from the May security patch, its comes with 3G/4G dual SIM dual standby support, new update for Nokia USB driver, enhanced power saving mode, improves background management, new user-interface features including app shortcuts, circular launcher icons, enhanced Live Wallpaper, profession theme-based Emojis, GIFs sharing on messages, and image keyboard support among others.

As of now, Nokia 6 is first non-Google and the lone third-party Android mobile brand to get v7.1.1 Nougat. This is a welcome move by the HMD Global Oy, who helms a great responsibility of returning Nokia to its former glory.
