Google's latest operating system Android 7.0 Nougat has been seeded to a few devices, but it is yet to come to Xiaomi's popular handsets like Xiaomi Mi 5, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi Redmi 3 and others.
The search giant has already seeded Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and Android One. However, the LG V20 is the first smartphone to be shipped with the latest firmware.
Xiaomi hasn't announced Android 7.0 Nougat update schedule for its devices but it appears like it will do much earlier than it did with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It is reported that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 (Mi Note Pro), which has already been cleared by the Chinese CCC authority, will come running Android 7.0 Nougat based MIUI 8 operating system. The Chinese company is expected to release the Mi Note 2 next month, and perhaps start seeding the new firmware to its eligible devices after that.
Android 7.0 Nougat update is expected to come to the Xiaomi Mi 5, Redmi Pro, Mi 4s, Mi 4c, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3s, Redmi 3A, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, Mi Pad 2, and Mi 4i. However, handsets like the Xiaomi Mi 2, Mi 2S, Mi 3, Mi 4 and Redmi 1S as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor is not compatible with Android 7.0 Nougat's Vulcan API.
Google's new firmware comes with features like multi-window, direct reply notifications, Extra power efficiency, Google Assistant, VR interface, Seamless updates, Screen Zoom, Clear All, Data saver, Improved file browser, Instant Apps, App switch, bundled notifications, improved Java 8 language support and new emojis.
