Lenovo has finally announced the list of smartphones that will get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Currently, all Lenovo smartphones run the Android Lollipop update.
As per the company's Android Upgrade Matrix, a dedicated webpage that shows the software update plans for all Lenovo smartphones that are confirmed to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow include the K3 Note, A7000, A7000 Plus, Vibe S1 and Vibe P1, according to GSM Arena.
Owners of Lenovo K3 Note, A7000 and A7000 Plus must know that the update will not arrive so soon. All the three models will get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA (over-the-air) update in September 2016, by which time, Google's next software upgrade Android N will be due. On the brighter side, at least these budget phones will get the next firmware eventually.
However, if you own the recently-released Vibe P1 or planning to buy the Vibe S1 at launch, you may get lucky as these Lenovo smartphones will get the Marshmallow update sooner. According to GSM Arena, Vibe S1 and Vibe P1 will be updated with Android M in June 2016.
Surprisingly, Lenovo has made no mention of Android M update for its flagship Vibe Z2 Pro. Given the current status, it appears as if the Vibe Z2 Pro users will be stuck on Android Lollipop unless Lenovo thinks otherwise.
Lenovo is trying to keep up with the latest software at a decent pace. Just last month, the company updated its affordable A6000 and A6000 Plus to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
