Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has released a detailed list of smartphones and a tentative date when Marshmallow updates will be available for download. To impress its customers the One series famed smartphone maker announced the release date the same day Google launched its latest devices--Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C--along with the latest operating system Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
HTC also announced on its website that it is focused to release its Sense interface, Eye experience and major Google Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in a timely manner. Along with the note, the company has also posted the device names which will receive the Marshmallow update.
The list includes HTC One M9, HTC One M8, HTC Desire 816, HTC One M9+, HTC One E9+, HTC One ME, HTC One E8, HTC One M8, HTC EYE, Butterfly 3, HTC Desrire 820 and HTC Desire 826. In reply to a user's question, HTC US official facebook page has replied that the list doesn't count One M7 since it crossed two years of lifecycle which is considered as prime criteria for getting the latest Android update.
Defending its Android 5-series Lollipop release delay, HTC has also posted an inforgraphic which mentions why the Android update release takes so long after the official announcement. The infographic also mentioned how and why the update release varies from carrier to carrier.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow features enhanced privacy, verified boot system, better performance along with longer battery life than Android Lollipop operating system.
HTC's key competitor Samsung and LG have also announced to offer Android 6.0 Marshmallow for their latest devices. The Samsung list includes Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will receive the Android 6.0 OTA update. Several other Samsung smartphones, including Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Duos, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 4 Duos, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Tab A will soon receive the update.
