New OS update has reportedly been released to select Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 series.
Sony has confirmed that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is now rolling out to Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet.
The new update is said to bring additional customisation options like silent modes including new alert system, camera improvements with superior auto-mode focus, enhanced enterprise support, Xperia in Business features for work and option to take selfie via SmartWear. That means users can use Sony's SmartWatch 3 as a remote shutter button.
Interestingly, Sony has incorporated a third party app LinkedIn with the update as well.
How to install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update on Sony Xperia Z3, Z2 series via OTA:
If Xperia Z3 & Z2 series device owners are getting the update notifications, then select "Yes, Download" option, and after downloading, select "Install now." The phone will restart automatically and the OS will be updated to the new version.
We would like to remind our readers that the roll-out process is carried out in phases, so it will take some time to reach all corners of the world.
Until then, users can check for the OTA update manually by going to – 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System update' >> 'Check Now'.
The company has confirmed that Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra are next in line to receive the update in coming weeks. Then Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will be seeded to Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia C3, original Xperia Z Series, Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua in coming months.
