As promised, Sony Mobile is reportedly planning to release the new OS firmware to select devices from next month.
The company via official Twitter handle Sony Xperia News confirmed that global Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update roll-out process would begin to all Xperia Z series devices from February.
Though there is no specific release schedule details, it is believed that Xperia Z3 and the Z3 Compact models will be the first Sony smartphones to get the Android Lollipop firmware and later to Z2, Z1 and other Z series devices.
A few months ago, Sony had initiated soak test, a preview of Android 5.0 Lollipop for select Xperia Z3 owners.
This pilot program was conducted in collaboration with carrier network Three in Sweden giving select fans the chance to test drive Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact devices running the early versions of the Android 5.0.

For the uninitiated, The Google's new Android v5.0 Lollipop OS comes with completely refurbished new design language material design bringing interactive user-interface, replacement of Dalvik with ART as its default runtime and many more tweaks for performance enhancements.
