It seems Android 4.4 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy S3 is around the corner, though the exact release date is yet to be announced. Also, reports claim that not all models of the device will get the upgrade.
A few models of Galaxy S3 will not get the Android 4.4 KitKat update, according to a report by G4Games website.
Here is the list of Galaxy S3 models which may receive the KitKat OS update, when it is released, as per the website: GT-I9305, SHV-E210K/L/S, SGH-T999/L, SGH-I747, SGH-N064, SGH-N035, SCH-J021, SCH-R530, SCH-I535, SCH-S960L and SCH-S968C.
Android 4.4 KitKat update may not be available for all the models of Galaxy S3 as some of them come with only 1 GB of RAM, which may not be able to handle KitKat, according to G4Games website. Sadly, international models like GT-I9300, SCH-I939 and SCH-S968C may not receive the update as they come with only 1GB RAM.
Samsung Electronics has made Android 4.4.2 KitKat available for Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3 but Galaxy S3, which revolutionized the Samsung brand, has not received one. The device will get a big boost if the KitKat OS is made available as it is said to be more stable and faster than the Jelly Bean.
It was earlier claimed that Samsung would release Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS update for its popular devices - Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, according to a report by Android Geeks.
The South Korean electronics giant has failed to cater to the needs of Android users, despite complaints from several quarters on the lack of OS update for its smartphones, which could force users to opt for other brands. It was reported in March that KitKat OS would be made available for some of the company's old smartphones, though it never happened.
