Veteran actress Rekha's come back film "Super Nani" is set to hit the theatres this Diwali, where the gorgeous lady will play the role of a modern grandmother.
However, the interesting part about the movie is that Rekha will be seen imitating Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, although BigB is not part of the project. It has to be pointed out that the duo had a bitter past relation and until now they don't face each other in public events.
The plot of the film is based on how a traditional grandmother transforms herself after her grandson (Sharman Joshi) persuades her to give a new meaning to her life. It is the journey of an aging lady who eventually becomes a commercial model.
As a part of her transformation, Rekha gets in touch with her friend (Anupam Kher), who offers her an ad commercial. During the ad, Rekha is asked to ape the trademark style of Bachchan, which the actress quickly agrees to do.
"Anupam Kher, who is an old buddy, comes to the new glam Bharti and offers her an ad with the Big B, much to the surprised envy of her family. Rekha does a take-off on Bachchan's famous mannerisms, including the trademark 'hain', as is seen in the film's first trailer which will be unveiled this weekend." a source close to the production, told Mumbai Mirror.
While speaking to the daily, the film's director and co-producer Indra Kumar confirms, "The scene you refer to is a part of the story, wherein we witness Rekhaji's transformation and her entry into the modelling world, following which she is offered prestigious TV commercials. When we approached her with this scene in which she had to imitate Mr Bachchan's famous mannerisms, which we felt would add a fun element to the story, she sportingly agreed. We have shot it in a humorous way."
Bachchan and Rekha, two legendary Bollywood actors, were much in love during the 1970-80's, but broke up due to some unknown circumstances.
The duo has worked together in some super hit films and last shared the screen space in Yash Chopra directorial "Silsila" (1981).
Now, with "Super Nani", it would be interesting to see how Rekha imitates her long lost love in the upcoming film that will be released on 24 October alongside Shah Rukh Khan's big budget "Happy New Year".
