Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is one of the active users on social media. But the actor has shocked everyone with his recent tweet, in which he threatened to quit Twitter.
In his tweet, he hinted at the social networking site, which – according to him – has reduced his number of followers. This raised many eyebrows as Big B was beaten by Shah Rukh Khan over Twitter followers count on Wednesday, January 31.
According to earlier report, SRK was leading with 32,932, 668 followers while Big B was just on his trail with 32,919,128 followers on the microblogging platform. But the current count of Big B's followers is 32,900,085 and SRK's is 32,935,774. While the Piku actor's count decreased, King Khan's increased.
Here's what Amitabh tweeted, which is speculated to be a dig at SRK:
T 2599 - TWITTER ..!!!?? you reduced my number of followers .. !!??HAHAHAHAHAHAHA .. !! thats a joke .. time to get off from you .. thank you for the ride .. ??? .. there are many 'other' fish in the sea - and a lot more exciting !! pic.twitter.com/85c15pDif4

Will Amitabh quit Twitter? We know how much he is involved with these social media activities. If he did quit, he has Facebook and Instagram as the other options in the sea.
The people following these two superstars get a daily dose of their entertainment and fan moments at regular intervals. While Big B keeps retweeting and replying to his fans queries, SRK once in a while starts interacting with his fans and floors them with his witty and funny answers.
But the count of Big B's Twitter followers has mysteriously gone down and rumours hint at fans unfollowing the megastar and turning their side to SRK. Is it possible? Well, may be.
There are such fans who change their sides. We wonder it's Twitter's fault as Amitabh claimed in his tweet, or the fans have changed their idol. There might be another reason as well. According to a report in India TV, Big B's tweet comes after many prominent Twitter users across the world lost more than a million followers.
It happened after the federal and state agencies in the US began investigating some agencies that sell fake followers, as reported by the New York Times. However, it is unknown if Amitabh is losing followers due the same investigation.
The PR team of Twitter, however, had put up a post on January 27 about the investigation news report. It looked like the NYT has violated Twitter policies.
The tactics used by Devumi on our platform and others as described by today's NYT article violate our policies and are unnacceptable to us. We are working to stop them and any companies like them.

Now, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah Rukh has bagged the second position of having the most Twitter followers, beating Big B who ranks third.
On the work front, SRK is currently prepping for Aanand L Rai's upcoming film Zero opposite Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. He will play a dwarf in the film, which will have several celebrities special appearances, including Salman Khan.
Big B, on the other hand, is busy shooting for YRF's upcoming project Thugs Of Hindostan opposite Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina Kaif. Amitabh was recently in news for his hand-written note to Padmaavat's actor Ranveer Singh.
Ranveer received the beautiful note and flowers from the megastar. The Befikre actor had tweeted a picture of the bouquet and wrote: "Mujhe mera award mil gaya".

This is not the first time Big B has sent beautiful hand-written notes to celebrities who have impressed him with their on-screen performances.
