"American Idol 2016" semi-finals 2 will kick off in a couple of days. The remaining 12 contestants will take the stage on Wednesday with the hope of advancing to the next round of the competition.

The top 24 semi-finalists will be trimmed to just 14 in the semi-final rounds. Last week saw La'Porsha Renae, Sonika Vaid, Avalon Young, Gianna Isabella, Thomas Stringfellow, Mackenzie Bourg and Jeneve Rose Mitchell qualifying to the next round, while five contestants -- Stephany Negrete, Jenna Renae, James VIII, Emily Brooke and Jordan Sasser – were sent home.
This week, the remaining 12 finalists will take on each other for seven seats. They will perform a solo each on Wednesday and a duet with former American Idol contestants, Haley Reinhart, Chris Daughtry, Jordin Sparks, Kellie Pickler, Constantine Maroulis and David Cook on Thursday. Judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr will choose seven singers from the lot for the next round and send the rest home.
