The mental stability of troubled actress Amanda Bynes has once again come under the radar after she announced her engagement to a 19-year-old, who works in a bait shop in Costa Mesa, California.
The actress was recently spotted out and about in New York City wearing an engagement ring, following which she told In Touch magazine that she is all set to wed the teenager.
But a source close to the actress told Radar Online that Bynes is just delusional about the whole marriage incident. "She isn't getting engaged. She's delusional. This is just more proof of her shaky mental state," the source said. "It's truly a life and death situation. If someone doesn't step in and do something, this story could have a very tragic ending."
Bynes claimed during her In Touch interview that she wanted to get married to get away from people.
"I am very needy for friendship and I hate men. I want to f** them, but I can now say I'm engaged — get away from me. I want to be married and I want to be away from people," she reportedly told the magazine on 5 October.
Bynes also said that she was ready to start a family with her fiancé, but didn't want a girl child as it would make her jealous. "I want boys, for sure. However many I can pop out. I don't want a gorgeous girl around. Then I [would] feel way jealous. Ew."
Bynes was involuntarily hospitalized last year, following which she went to live with her parents under her mother's conservatorship. But once the conservatorship ended in August, the actress moved back to New York City, and since then pictures of her riding a bike in traffic, and going about the city have been published, hinting that Bynes was back to normal.
But her shocking DUI arrest last week has her mother concerned, who plans to take a trip to New York City to save her troubled daughter.
"Lynn is planning on going to New York City in the next two weeks," an insider revealed to Radar Online. "She is deeply disturbed by the pictures of Amanda appearing to be very wobbly on a bike in traffic. Reports of Amanda talking to herself in restaurants are also very troubling signs."
"It's been very difficult for Lynn because husband, Rick, doesn't believe their daughter suffers from any mental health issues," the source said.
