Alok Nath, who has worked in films like "Hum Saath Saath Hai", "Vivaah" and "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun" among others, has become an Internet sensation after jokes based on him started trending on Twitter.
On 30 December, Nath became a top trending topic on Twitter for no apparent reason, and since then jokes related to him started circulating on Twitter. The twitter trend also resulted in viral memes on Facebook.
A Facebook page, titled "Alok Nath Memes", was created on 1 January which now has more than 28,000 likes.
The tweets and memes mocked Nath's onscreen persona of Babuji in television serials and films. He played the role of sanskaari father in films like "Vivaah", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum" and "Ek Vivaah... Aisa Bhi" among others.
Also, in television serials like "Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai" and "Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli" he played the role of "Babuji".
However, Nath has taken all the jokes and memes in a sporting way and also said that he is enjoying all the attention.
"I am happy that people are spending time on creating jokes on me. I am taking the entire thing very positively and in fact enjoying the attention. I have suddenly become very very very important person," the actor told The Times of India.
