Bollywood star Rajkummar Rao was rumoured to be a part of Aamir Khan's "Dangal," but the "Aligarh" actor has denied the reports. It was said that Rajkummar would make a special appearance in Aamir's film.
"All these reports about me in 'Dangal' are rumours," Rajkummar told Press Trust of India. Aamir and Rajkummar have earlier shared screen space in "Talaash," in which both of them played the role of cops.
National Award winner Rajkummar has till date played diverse roles and has been most appreciated for his performances in "Shahid," "Citylights" and "Kai Po Che" among others. He also also garnered appreciation for his terrific performance in Hansal Mehta's "Aligarh."
"Aligarh" is a true story based on the life of Dr. Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, a Marathi professor at the Aligarh Muslim University. Manoj Bajpayee portrays Siras, who lost his job due to his sexual orientation.
Rajkummar plays the character of a journalist and is seen fighting against the injustice done to Manoj, who faces severe criticism for being a homosexual. The actor reportedly had to learn Malayalam for this flick.
On the other hand, "Dangal" is based on the real life story of wrestler Mahavir Phogat. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Aamir plays the role of legendary wrestler and had to gain weight to fit into the role.
Apparently, the movie will feature three different stages in Phogat's life. The 49-year-old actor will play a 19-year-old teenager and a 27-year-old young man, but a major portion of the film will see him as a 55-year-old man.
"Dangal" will also portray Aamir as a father of two daughters. Newcomers Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra will play the role of Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari respectively, the wrestler's daughters who also happen to be wrestlers. TV actress Sakshi Tanwar will be seen as Aamir Khan's wife in the film.
