Looks like B-town's young star Alia Bhatt is one of the most sought after actresses these days.
With a bag full of projects -- Vikas Bahl's "Shandaar" opposite "Haider" star Shahid Kapoor, Ayan Mukherji's untitled film alongside Ranbir Kapoor and the adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's book "Half Girlfriend" -- buzz is that the actress has been roped in for another big film.
The "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" actress has apparently been roped in to play the lead in the sequel to 2008 blockbuster "Rock On!", reported Bollywood Life.
Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal starrer "Rock On" was a huge success at the box office and soon after that the makers had also announced for a sequel. However, things got delayed due to reasons best known to the makers.
But now with the news of Bhatt having been signed in to play one of the leads in "Rock On 2!", the film will surely soon create waves among viewers who are eagerly waiting for the second installment of the super hit film. Moreover, the music album of the prequel, sung by Akhtar himself has left an everlasting impression on music lovers.
Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, "Rock On!" also won 2 National Awards, one for Best Feature Film in Hindi and other for the Best Supporting Actor (Rampal).
The original version marked Akhtar and Prachi Desai's debut film and Rampal, Luke Kenny and Purab Kohli played important roles in it..
Although the cast of the sequel is yet to be announced, the film apparently will be produced by Excel Entertainment and will not be directed by Abhishek. Instead, the sequel to "Rock On!" will apparently be helmed by a debutant director.
