Filmmaker Karan Johar, who introduced Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in Bollywood, is set to reunite the duo in his next project titled, "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania". This time, Karan will produce the film while Shashank Khaitan makes his debut as a director.
Earlier, Alia and Varun had shared screen space for Karan Johar's "Student Of The Year" (SOTY) which also starred new comer Siddharth Malhotra.
Confirming that "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" will go on floors in October, a source close to the project told Hindustan Times, "Though they have been seen together in a film before, their pairing is still fresh and young. Since Varun is currently busy shooting for (father) David Dhawan's directorial (Main Tera Hero), and Alia has some work she needs to finish on "2 States", they will start shooting for this film by October this year."
"We are starting a film with Varun and Alia, which is being directed by Shashank. This is his debut film; he has also written it. It's a fun, warm and crazy love story and will be shot extensively in Punjab," said Karan Johar.
Speaking about his lead cast, Karan added, "They (Varun and Alia) had an unrequited romance in SOTY, so this is technically their first on-screen love story."
The romantic flick is expected to hit screens on 27 June, 2014.
Newcomers Alia, Siddharth and Varun were flooded with offers after the success of "SOYT". Alis is presently shooting for Karan Johar's "2 States" which is Bollywood adaptation of writer Chetan Bhagat's novel with the same title. She will also be seen in Imtiaz Ali's "Highway". Varun's Next "Main Tera Hero" is also produced by Karan Johar.
