"Alex from Target", the teenage boy, who became a social media sensation after a picture of him working at a cash register went viral, has become something of a sex symbol.
A number of fans have gone on social networking sites to praise his good looks, and many have even expressed a desire to have him working at the Target store near them.
"Alex from target is fucking sexy oh my god. Can I have an Alex in my target??" reads a tweet, while another fan wrote: "Imagine Alex pinning you against the wall as he whispers in your ear 'your total will be 23.47.'"
YouTube user Robby even wrote a song in tribute of Alex from Target, which goes something like this: "You came into my life one day on Instagram I don't know where you came from. His name is Alex from Target, we don't know what he does. Or where he comes from or what's he do. I guess he's just an employee from Target."
So who exactly is this teenager who has managed close to one million mentions per day on social networking platforms? His official Twitter account does not reveal much information, but the teen has more than 5,00,000 followers on Twitter as of Tuesday.
Alex appears to be adjusting to fame quite well, and not on Twitter that he had to change his number and that fake accounts of him were being made. Ever since the teen became an online sensation, a number of memes have been doing the rounds, with one stating: "He Scanned My Items For Me When Nobody Would."
It is yet unknown why Alex became famous, and Target spokesperson Molly Snyder told Mashable that the company was equally surprised to see the "Alex From Target" trending on Twitter on Sunday.
"So imagine our surprise yesterday when one of our Target team members managed to flood the Internet with images of red and khaki without even trying," she said. "We are proud to have a great team, including #AlexFromTarget, and are in contact with his store and family."
