Maruti Suzuki has put on hold deliveries of the new Dzire in India as the company is replacing the steering assembly of the compact sedan.
The dealerships of Maruti Suzuki have been instructed to hold the deliveries of the new Dzire till the issue with the steering assembly is sorted, according to a TeamBHP report. There is, however, no official word on it yet. The company is reportedly dispatching the new steering assembly to the dealerships. It is not clear yet whether all the new Dzire models have been affected or the decision is limited to a particular batch of the new Dzire.
Launched on May 16, the new Dzire is proving to be a worthy successor of the previous model. The Dzire crossed 44,000 bookings in India in just 10 days of its entry into the market, and the waiting period of the compact sedan has also been rising. Built on the company's HEARTECT platform, which also underpins its Maruti Suzuki's popular premium hatchback Baleno, the new Dzire is priced starting at Rs. 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Under the hood, the 2017 Dzire carries over the engine of its previous model. The new Dzire has two engine options — a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine and 1.3-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. While the petrol engine will churn out 82bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4,200rpm, the diesel models will generate 74bhp at 4,000rpm and 190Nm at 2,000rpm.
