Akshay Kumar seems to be having the year of his life. After delivering three back-to-back box office hits in a year (a feat the reigning Khans are yet to achieve), the superstar has almost taken over television.
Akshay's "Housefull 3," which made over Rs. 100 crore at the box office, premiered worldwide on Star Gold and Star Gold HD. The comic-caper recorded 78,16,000 impressions to become the second most-watched film on TV, Catch News reported.
Although the third instalment beat "Fan," "Dilwale," "Baaghi" and "Sanam Re" among others, Salman Khan's "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo," which was aired in February this year, remained unbeatable with 2,51,19,000 impressions.
Directed by Sajid-Farhad, "Housefull 3" featured an ensemble cast comprising Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon, Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani and Chunkey Pandey.
In other news, Akshay has just returned from his birthday (Sept. 9) holiday at Maldives and has begun work on "Jolly LLB 2," in which he plays a lawyer, a role he has never attempted previously.
After he wraps up the legal drama, Akshay is expected to take up Neeraj Pandey's "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha," "Crack" and then Omung Kumar's "Five," which is a psychological thriller and will require the actor to don five different avatars.
